Malcomb, George E. age 85 of Maryville passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. He was retired from Piedmont Airlines as a captain with 25 years of service. George had a lifelong love for flying. He was the owner and operator of an airport and flight school in Warsaw, Kentucky and was one of the original barnstormers. Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mattie Malcomb. George is survived by; his wife of 67 years, Roberta Malcomb, son and daughter-in-law; Ronald and Mildred Malcomb of Mobile, AL, son, Gregory Malcomb of Maryville, grandchildren; Wesley Malcomb of Mobile, Al. and Nikki Malcomb of Maryville, brothers; J.C. Malcomb, Harold Kenneth and wife Cookie Malcomb all of Wheatley, Ky., and Ralph Douglas Malcomb of Toledo, Oh. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Jim Beasley officiating. The entombment service will follow at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00.
