George Raymond Downey

George Raymond Downey age 67 of Friendsville, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the family home. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a dear friend to many people throughout his life. He was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church. He graduated from Friendsville High School in 1962 and was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company. He will be deeply loved and missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Downey; sisters, Shirley Webb & Eveleen Downey; nephew, Mike Tyler. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Downey; daughter, Gyneth Smith of Maryville; daughter & son-in-law, Tina & Jeff Patty of Greenback; son & daughter-in-law, Randy & Angela Downey of Friendsville; 7 precious grandchildren, Erisha Abbott, Ciara Smith, Rachel Downey, Lauren Downey, Adam Downey, Raylee Downey & Levi Patty; 1 great-grandson, Nolan Abbott; mother, Ruby Downey of Maryville; brothers, Horace “Bud�? Downey, Donald “Duck�? Downey, Arthur Junior Downey; sisters, Cathleen White, Lucille McCall, Sarah Aro; many nieces & nephews. A special thanks to Dr. David Snow for his special care of George over the past years. A celebration of George’s life will be 7:00 pm Sunday, September 27, 2009, Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Toby Downey officiating. The family & friends will assemble at 10:00 am Monday, September 30, 2009 at Marble Hill Cemetery.
