George H. Davis, Sr.

George Herbert Davis Sr. age 89 of Townsend, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company after thirty-five years. Preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Allen Davis; son, George Herbert Davis Jr.; his parents, Shannon and Kathryn Davis; brothers, Clay, Hurst, Mike, and John Davis; sisters, Coleen Davis, Rose Gregory, and Bertha Butler. Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Benny Davis of Townsend; daughter-in-law, Sharon Davis; grandchildren, Doug Davis, Jennifer Davis, Vanessa and husband Jeremy Sutton, and Crystal and husband Johnathon Coats; two great grandchildren; brother, Charlie Davis of Minnesota; sister, Beulah Gregory of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 9, 2009 in Smith's West Chapel with the Rev. Ken Abbott officiating. Family and friends will assemble Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 12:00 pm at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 S.
