George Arlee Cathey, Jr.

George A. Cathey Jr. age 87 of Maryville passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Shannondale of Maryville. George received a B.S. from the University of Tennessee. He retired from General Electric Medical Systems after 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Rotary Club. George had the smiling eyes of Paul Newman, a firm handshake, and never met a stranger. He was an avid fisherman & loved playing golf. He made many friends and loved the staff members from Shannondale & Asbury of Maryville. He and his wife Dot would have celebrated 56 years of marriage in September. Preceded in death by: Parents, George & Hilda Cathey; Son, John R. Cathey; Brother, Billy Cathey; Sister, Judy Cathey Mitchell. Survivors include: Wife, Dorothy "Dot" Cathey; Daughters & Sons-in-law, Jennifer & Dennis Geary of Wassila, AK and Jody & Sam Curtis of Madisonville, TN; Granddaughter, Jessica Curtis; Brother, Donald Cathey of Finger, TN; Nieces and Nephews, Cathey & husband Ted Jones, Mike & wife Janet Mitchell, Steve G.
