Gene Murphy

Gene Murphy age 67 of Walland passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at his home. He retired from Anderson Lumber Co. after 40 years of service. Gene was a member of West Miller’s Cove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Gene was an avid horse rider and family oriented man. Preceded in death by: Parents, Henry & Polly Murphy; Brothers, Edward Murphy and Bob Murphy; Sisters, Blanche Elliott, Gladys Robbins, and Ann Foster. Survivors include: Wife of 46 years, Linda Murphy; Sons & Daughter-in-law, Gene Murphy, Jr. & Samantha K. and Mickey Murphy; Grandchildren, Samantha A. Murphy, Cage Murphy, Callie Diane Murphy (due November 2016); Brother & Sister-in-law, Jerry & Evelyn Murphy; Sisters & Brothers-in-law, Ruby & Jim Hutsell, Becky Burchfield, Teresa & Bobby Halcomb; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Smith Trinity Chapel. A private service will follow. A private burial will be held at West Miller’s Cove Cemetery.
