Gary Lynn Hackney

Gary Lynn Hackney, husband, father, papaw, brother and friend, passed away Monday September 15, 2014 at the age of 64. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by father, Charles Frank Hackney; mother, Mabel Thomas Davis; stepfather, Jim Davis; brother, Jerry "Mick" Hackney and nephew, Robbie Greene; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Stella Martin. He is survived by a loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Judy Martin Hackney; beloved son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Tina Walker Hackney; much loved and the light of his life grandchildren, Trey Palmer Hackney, Claire Tatum Hackney and Cade Tanner Hackney; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Vicky Hackney of Arizona; sister, Linda Hannah of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Frankie Sue and Larry Click of Greenback; sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Lynn Wilhoite of Kentucky; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim and Shirley Martin of Maryville, Kenneth and Donna Martin of Maryville, Allen and Sue Martin of Walland and Steve Martin of Walland; and many nieces and nephews. Gary graduated from Walland High School and was a City of Alcoa fireman. He was a member of the East Tennessee Wheelbillies wheelchair basketball team. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Smith Trinity Chapel with entombment at Grandview Cemetery at 3:00 pm. The Reverends Tim Martin, Kenneth Martin and Chris Edmonds will officiate. Pallbearers will be childhood and lifelong friends Elmer Reagan, Larry Cable, Gary Carver, Paul Whitehead, Bob Gamble, Gary Cable and Don White Walker. Family and friends may call at their convenience at the funeral home after 2:00 pm Wednesday or at the family home.
