Fred D. Shults Ph.D.

Fred. D. Shults, Ph. D. , of Seymour, was born in Greenback, Tennessee in 1938 and passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos Shults and Rintha Ramsey Shults; brother, Ronald Shults. Fred is survived by his wife, Linda Churchwell Shults; daughter, Karen Drake (Jeff); son Brian D. Shults; grandchildren, Justin Drake and Jessica Schaeffer (Anthony); sister, Betty Faye Jarvis (James) of Murfreesboro; brother-in-law, Edward B. Churchwell (Dorothy) of Madison, WI. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Fred received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, and MBA from the University of Oklahoma and a Ph. D. from the University of Tennessee. He retired from the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech. After his retirement, he did “Academic Research Strategies.” In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Hope Good Shepard Clinic, PO Box 5937, Sevierville, TN 37864 or your favorite charity. Family and friends will assemble at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the East Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery, 2200 E. John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN for the interment with military honors.
