Fred Hummel, Jr.

Fred Hummel Jr., age 78, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the family home. Fred grew up in Chilhowee and graduated from Lanier High School in 1954. He was a member of the Mountain View Masonic Lodge #519 and was retired from Kroger's after 50 years of service. Fred truly enjoyed the Chilhowee Lake and spending time outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Josie Hummel and his son, Marty Hummel. Survived by his loving and devoted wife, Linda Hummel; son, Rocky Hummel; grandchildren and their spouses, Johathan and Tatiana Hummel and Shellie and Bobby Walton; great granddaughter, Harper Walton; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Delores Hummel; sisters and brother-in-law, Marie Ledgerwood, and Suzanne and Jim Hartsell; several nieces, nephews, and other family members; special friends, Sam Davis, Tommy Shehan, and Leon Melton. The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice staff for their special care and attention. A Celebration of Fred's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. David Cardwell officiating. The family and friends will assemble at Grandview Cemetery for the Interment following the service.
