Frank Edward Hos, age 86, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at his Louisville, TN home. He was born September 2, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa to Louis and Mary Gibson Hos. Frank graduated from Wiley High School and in 1949 from Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute, IN. He also attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK. He worked as a field service engineer for the Boeing Company, retiring in 1985 to the Knoxville area. He previously worked for the Ford Motor Company (aircraft engine division). Traveling for the Boeing Company took him to the 48 continental states and Iceland. A lifelong Protestant, Frank was a member of Masonic Lodge 86 of Terre Haute, IN. His interests included his family, current events, especially politics, reading, and most of all, airplanes. He also enjoyed working on his car. Frank was an avid University of Tennessee and Indianapolis Colts fan. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ella Voelkle; brothers Louis (surviving wife Vera of Terre Haute), Richard, and Guy (surviving wife Marilyn of Chicago). Frank is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 61 years, Selma Clark Hos; daughters Carol Martin, Ogden Dunes, IN; Diane McClaine, Maple Valley, WA; Lianne, Louisville, TN; grandchildren Craig Martin, Chad Martin, Scott McClaine, Michael McClaine, Mandy McClaine; and two great-granddaughters, Sylvia and Fiona Martin. Family will receive neighbors and friends Friday, September 12 from 6:00 to 7:00 at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service with a celebration of life service at 7:00.
