Frances Johnson Matheson

Matheson, Frances Johnson departed this life on April 9, 2010. She was born in Copperhill, TN to Professor Leroy and Willa Johnson. She lived her early years on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate TN, where her father was a chemistry professor. She was a graduate of L.M.U. She taught school in Blount County for 19 years at Porter Elementary and Bungalow. She loved reading, traveling and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Matheson of Alcoa. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynn and Pete Hedrick of Alcoa; Son, Dr. Richard (Eddie) Matheson Jr. and Troy Manning of Bradenton, Fla. Grandchildren, Richard Burghardt of Dallas, Tommy Burghardt of Austin, Michael Headrick of Alcoa, Gregg Headrick of New York City and Katie & Robert Taylor of Nashville. She also leaves her sister & brother-in-law, Dr. Mary Ward and Dr. Dennis Ward of Jackson TN. Funeral service 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Smith Trinity Chapel with Pastor Amy Probst officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Great Smokey Mountains Heritage Center, PO Box 268, Townsend, TN 37882 in memory of Frances Matheson. The family will receive friends after the service until 3:30 pm, Sunday. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens at 3:45 p.m., Sunday.
