Floyd (Boonie) Sweet Jr. age 66 of Maryville, passed away Friday, August 7, 2009 at his home. He was a Corpsman in the United States Army and a member of Campground United Methodist Church. He was a member of Alcoa’s 25-Year Club and a graduate and standout football player of Walland High School. Boonie loved to work in his garage and was a Civil War historian. Preceded in death by: Parents, Floyd & Edith Sweet; Sister, Elizabeth Ramsey. Survivors include: Wife, Merrilynn Sweet; Daughter & Son-in-law, Kellie & Lance Nord of Maryville; Daughter, Kathleen Loy of Maryville; Step-daughter, Cathy Bush & husband Patrick; Stepson, C.A. Ogle; Grandson, Grady Loy; Step-Grandchildren, Sebastian & Zack Nord, Justin Bush, Katelyn Bentley; Brother, Bishop William (Buddy) L. Sweet & wife Joyce of Maryville; Sisters, Bea Headrick & husband Mike of Alcoa, and Maxine Stephens of Greenback; several special nieces and nephews including special nephews, Dr. John Sweet & Lenville Sweet. He was loved by all of his extended family and special friends Hugh & Hilde Dotson and Bobby Dale Law. Funeral service will be at 7:30 PM, Monday, August 10, 2009 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Dr. John Sweet officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Grandview Cemetery.
