Faye Elizabeth Rule, age 77, of Rockford passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Faye lived out her passion for teaching and learning by serving as a Family and Consumer Science educator for over 30 years at Everett, Walland, and Alcoa High Schools. After retirement she led the annual Blount County Farm Tour and assisted with Agriculture in the Classroom programs though the Blount County Women’s Farm Bureau. Faye rarely missed a Lady Vols basketball game, and spent countless hours gardening and taking care of her yard. She was preceded in death by her parents Silas W. Irwin and Willah Troxler Irwin. She is survived by her devoted husband, J.D. Rule; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Toni Rule; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Al Feldblum; grandchildren, Zoe, Callie and Alexander; and sisters Frankie Hensley and Mary Tilson. Receiving of friends will be held Wednesday, July 6 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home.
