Faye Evelyn Ogle

April 29, 1925 — October 24, 2016

Faye Evelyn Ogle, 91 years on this earth, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, October 24, 2016. Following a long battle with Alzheimer’s, she has reclaimed her memories and the names of those who love her. For that, we claim victory over the disease that never took her beauty, grace or smile. While so many knew of her illness in these last few years, Evelyn was so much more than Alzheimer’s. She had the hands that knew how to care for you, the skill to whip up a meal like that you’ve never tasted, the homegrown knowledge to plant anything from a seed and make it a beautiful blossom and the arms that put you right at ease and made you feel at home. She lived her entire life in sacrifice to what others needed over herself. She delighted in encouraging you, feeding you, praying for you and telling you about her love for Jesus. She was a tiny woman with giant implications that reached everyone who knew her. She sung about Jesus until she could no longer speak, but her witness found a way to continue reaching those who cared for her. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Ogle, a retired veteran of the US Army and Baptist minister. He called her his queen and we know he is overjoyed to be reunited with her in the Heaven they raised their family to know. It is that promise that comforts us. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Emma Roberson; Brothers, George Dewy, Roy, John, James, and Horace Roberson Jr.; Sisters, Lula Nix, Willie Kirkland, and Ruby Downey; Granddaughter, Charity Hensley, who was loved dearly by her Grandmother. She leaves behind: sisters, Virginia Bowers of Maryville and Maxine Dunn of Rockford; daughter & son-in-law, Fred & Faye Self of Knoxville; daughters, Amber Cooper of Knoxville and Connie Hensley of Madisonville; daughter & son-in-law, Jed & Joy Hester of Alcoa; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Eddie & Hope Pryor, John & Sherri Bevis; grandsons, Dana Hensley Jr., Luke, Jeremiah and Levi Hester; great-grandchildren, Kathryn & Andrew Pryor and Uriah Hensley. A special thank you to the caregivers at Amedysis and Shannondale of Maryville, who cared for Evelyn like family. They put us at ease in their compassion and ability to keep her comfortable when she needed it most. We will never be able to repay them their kindness and they will forever have our gratitude. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at East Maryville Baptist Church Cemetery.
