Evert Owen Switzer

Evert Owen Switzer was born April 12, 1944 to Charles Williams and Ellen Eileen (Horn)Switzer Lakey, in Leadville, Colorado. He entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, July 05, 2011. He spent most of his childhood living with his paternal grandparents, Lee & Ethel Switzer at Jericho Springs, MO. He was a United States Veteran serving in Korea and Vietnam. Owen was a military translator and a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Owen owned the Bekins Moving and Storage Franchise, serving Knoxville, TN and the surrounding areas, providing jobs for many people. Owen was baptized into the Christian faith in 1959 at the 1st Christian Church of Cassville, MO. He has also been a loyal member of Eckankar (Religion of Light and Sound of God) for the past 16 years. Owen married Dora “Linda�? Gentry on July 29, 1966 at Fort Riley, Kansas. He was preceded in death by: Grandparents; Parents; Infant Sister, Cindy; Brothers, William Michael Switzer and Steven Willis Lakey; Sisters, Mary Faye Switzer Piercy and Rose Ellen Switzer McQueen Bradshaw. Owen is survived by: Wife, Linda; Son, Aaron & Fiancé Tricia Gerou; Four Grandchildren; Brothers, Robert Lee, Frank Thomas and Richard Allen Switzer all of Missouri, and Jack Charles William Switzer Jr. Gudgel of Nebraska; Sisters, Kathleen Ann Lee, Connie Sue Johnson of Missouri, and Frances Joleen Lakey of Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Interment will follow at Ballards Chapel Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
