Shahan, Evelyn Elizabeth Morgan; died on October 23, 2008 at NHC Healthcare of Knoxville, Emerald Avenue. Born on August 4, 1912 in Villanow, Georgia, she lived there until her marriage to Maxwell Lee Shahan of Chattanooga, TN. His work with TVA brought them to Knoxville after World War II and they remained in this area the rest of their lives. She loved books, music, travel, needlework, family history, and above all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She gave many hours of volunteer service to Blount Memorial Hospital and will be remembered for opening the family home to her daughter's slumber parties and in later years for hosting campouts at The Farm for grandchildren and their friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell Lee Shahan and son, Larry Austin Shahan. She is survived by her son, Lee M. Shahan; daughter, Judy S. Blackstock; grandchildren, Stephen and Amy Blackstock, Mike Shahan and David Shahan and wife, Leslie, Liane Chafin and Lance Shahan; great-grandchildren, Nick and Alex Blackstock, Max Blackstock, Sydney Chafin, Sierra and Jake Shahan; Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2008 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Grandview Cemetery with Entombment to follow. Donations in her memory may be made to the Knox Area Rescue Missions, 418 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917. Mother was blessed with good health and was able to stay in her home until last year. Heartfelt thanks go to all caregivers who provided such good care to her over the last ten years. The family would like to express appreciation to all staff of NHC of Knoxville, particularly those on the 2nd floor.
