Eva Mae Carter Lawrence, 81, loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Alcoa, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday 29 December 2012. Eva was born on 6 July 1931, the daughter of A.R. and Lura Della Carter of Alcoa, brother, Pete Carter and sister, Rhea Carter Collins. She married her husband of 55 years, Eugene Jasper Lawrence in 1948 in Alcoa, settling in the area she loved in 1954. Eva worked at Proffitt's, and was an active member of the Alcoa First Baptist Church. She cherished her Sunday School class and numerous activities with dear friends, including the Believers, Smith's Mortuary Grief Group, the Lunch Bunch, and the Alcoa Alumni. She loved the Word of God and her hobbies included making a loving home for her family, cooking, singing, playing the piano, reading, and needlework. Her life was enriched by her travels with friends and numerous trips to visit family. Eva was preceded in death by her loving parents A.R. and Lura Della Carter, husband E.J. Lawrence; and brother Pete Carter. She is survived by her six children: Rebecca Burghardt and husband Bob of College Station, Texas; Susan Johnston, and husband Dan of Alcoa; Daniel Lawrence, and wife Sally of London, England; Jeanie Indermill, and husband John of Red Wing, Minnesota; Douglas Lawrence of Havre de Grace, Maryland; and David Lawrence of Alcoa. Eva's nine grandchildren include Richard, Tommy, Jimmy, Matthew, Jon, Louiza, Henry, Richard and Sophia. Her six great grandchildren include Matheson, Autumn, Abby, Alaina, Reese, and Evie. Eva Loved the Lord, Loved Life, Loved People, and Loved to Laugh. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in the Trinity Chapel with Rev. Freeman Tomlin officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
