Ellen A. Poplin

Ellen Poplin age 87 of Maryville Passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Colonial Hills Health Care Center. She was a member of Six Mile Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years. Ellen was a foster grandparent at Fort Craig School in Sharon Kyker’s classroom for nearly 10 years. Preceded in death by her husband, Henry Poplin; daughter, Delores Poplin; brothers, James, Harold, John, Dan, and Charles Sands; sisters, Alma Fortner and Thelma Roberson. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, John and Merle Poplin of Louisville; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Dennis Cooper of Maryville; daughter, Joy Miller of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren, Elaine Bohanan, Debbie McDaniel, Kathy Chance, Stephen Floyd, Tonya Floyd, Steve Patterson, Patrick Miller, Cortney Miller, Cedrick Grindstaff, Hannah Grindstaff, and Daniel Grindstaff; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Bill White officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Knox Area Rescue Ministries, 418 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37921.
