Elijah Grady Haney passed away at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital on January 25, 2023. Elijah was born on January 23, 2023 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center to Jacob and Kati Haney. Despite his short time on earth, he was deeply loved and brought immense joy to those who met him. He showed everyone his strength and courage through his short fight and touched the hearts of not only his family but of those that took care of him. He forever changed the lives of his parents and taught them unconditional love. Elijah was preceded in death by two of his grandparents, Gracie Yvonne Haney and Dennis Allen Hooper; great grandparents, Donna Carol Anderson, Nancy Della Haney, Jakob Oscar Haney, Clyde Cannon Jr. Survivors include parents, Jacob and Kati Haney of Maryville; grandparents, Ritchie and Missy Anderson of Greenback, Noah Haney of Marlow, and Pamela Hooper of Vonore; great-grandparents, Darrell and Evelyn Cable of Greenback, Ray Anderson of Maryville, Edith Clark of Oak Ridge; aunts, Chelsi (Matt) Long of Greenback, Sarah (Chris) Waters of Clinton; cousins, Mattox and Anna Long of Greenback. Also survived by many extended family members and friends. Please understand that due to the circumstances, the immediate family will have a small, private service to honor his short life. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, condolences, and support. They also wish to give special thanks to all the medical and support staff of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center (Birthing Center) and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital (NICU), and especially Dr. Gary Stephens, Dr. Steven Andrade, and Dr. Ellen Andrews for their outstanding care. “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
