Gerry Loveday

Edna Geraldine (Gerry) Johnson Loveday, of Maryville, passed away peacefully at home after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on June 20, 2022. Gerry was born to Edna June Webb Rudd and Albert L. Johnson Sr. on September 17, 1944. Gerry was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, using her talents in ministry. Over the years, Gerry made hats for babies and for cancer patients, clothing for Haitian orphans, and winter hats and scarves for underprivileged children in Appalachia. Gerry attended Knoxville Business College. She served as an administrative assistant to Knoxville City Schools before starting a family. She was able to be a stay-at-home mom while Paige and Lisa were young, then she worked several years at the Blount County Chamber of Commerce. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Delmar Loveday; daughters and sons-in-law, Paige and Ken Allender and Lisa and Tim Heath all of Maryville; and grandchildren, Hannah, Sam, and Emma Allender and Elias Heath; sister and brother-in-law, Lynda and Steve Ellis of Gwinn, Michigan; sisters Sally Johnson and Patti Browning of Maryville. Gerry was preceded in death by both of her parents and her brother Albert L. Johnson Jr. Special thanks and appreciation to the nurses and caregivers at Blount Memorial Hospital 4th Floor South, Blount Memorial Home Health, and Blount Memorial Hospice. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm in the Smith Trinity Chapel with a Celebration of Gerry’s life to follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Gary Thomas officiating.
