Edna Talbott Kidd, 93, of Knoxville, TN died January 14, 2018 with her family by her side. Born in Blount County and a 1943 graduate of Everett High School, she worked at ALCOA, Blount Memorial Hospital, Fort Sanders Hospital, and as the bookkeeper of Bray-Kidd Tire Service, a family owned South Knoxville business of 26 years. Edna grew up in the East Maryville Baptist Church, married L. R. “Bill” Kidd and settled in Knoxville, where she was a faithful member of the Woodlawn Christian Church. She was known for her hospitality and infectious smile. Her home was often a gathering place for family and friends before and after Sunday evening services. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Murtice Talbott; husband Bill Kidd; brothers Kenneth, Bennet, and Hoyt Talbott; sister Louise Everett; sisters-in-law Jean and Helen Talbott; brother-in-law George Plumlee; and nephew Bryan Burns. She will be greatly missed by her children, Janice, Keith, and William Kidd; their spouses Richard Woods, Connie Kidd, and Mary Ruth Kidd; her sisters Jane Plumlee, Grace Early, Barbara Burns, and Ruth Talbott; brothers-in-law Fred Everett, Howard Early, and Bill Burns; her five grandchildren, Alicia Henderson, David Woods and wife Melissa, Jonathan Woods, Allen and Elizabeth Kidd; great-granddaughter, Ella Brock, and 23 nieces and nephews and their families. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 5 – 7 pm at the Woodlawn Christian Church, 4339 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920; a service celebrating her life will follow. The interment will be at 11 am on Saturday at Clark’s Grove Cemetery, 3217 Williams Mill Road, Maryville, TN 37804. The family thanks those who visited and wrote her during her long struggle with Alzheimer’s, especially David and Margaret Eubanks, Sybil Knight, and Linda Reid.
