Edna Jean Chambers

October 25, 1933 — November 15, 2008

Edna Jean Koons Chambers age 75 of Maryville passed away Saturday November 15, 2008 at the family home. She was a member of Kagley's Chapel Baptist Church where she served on the fellowship and food committees. She worked for Levi Strauss for many years and retired from Haven House. Edna was a longtime Bluegrass music fan with lots of Bluegrass friends. She enjoyed sports, especially UT Men's Basketball, and played church and recreation league softball. She loved working in her garden and enjoyed sharing it with others. Edna had a tradition of cooking breakfast on Sunday mornings for anyone who wanted to come and eat. She was well known, loved by everyone who knew her, and was one of several community "Moms". Preceded in death by her husband, Archie Chambers; parents, Jimbo and Grace Koons; brothers, Elmer Koons, Harry Gardner, Ernest Sellers, Carlos Gardner, and Bob Gardner. Survivors include daughter, Sandy Reagan and Bob Davis of Maryville, Lisa Chambers and husband, Kenny Dodson of Maryville; brother, Jimmy Koons and wife, Edith of Maryville; nieces and nephews, Shawn and Melissa Koons, Shana and Scottie Hughes and Gracie Hitson; life long friend and sports buddy, Margaret Kagley; adopted family, Danny and Muriel Hodges; and all of her Kagley's Church family. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in the Smith West Chapel with Rev. Clifton Hearon and Rev. Ronnie Day officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Kagley's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery for the Interment. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
