Edith Marie Gregory Lynn

Edith Marie Gregory Lynn, age 89 of Maryville, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, with her family at her side.  Edith was born on June 29, 1934, in Knoxville, TN. She grew up in Loudon, TN during the Great Depression.  This experience helped shape her very strong work ethic, her resilience and commitment to not giving up during difficult times or poor health, and her generous spirit to help others in need.  Edith had a servant’s heart and enjoyed caring for others.    She returned to nursing school later in life and was very proud of her 30-year career as a cardiac nurse at Blount Memorial Hospital. Edith enjoyed working outside in her vegetable garden and with her beautiful flowers.   She loved canning, freezing food and putting up honey from the bee hives in her yard.   She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family and entertaining in her home.   It gave her great pleasure to see her family eat, even if they were not hungry.  Edith kept her quick witty sense of humor until the end, she loved making people laugh.  Edith was saved as a young girl at Bible School.  She loved Jesus and was a faithful Christian throughout her life.    Her family and friends would often call her to ask her to pray for a special request because of her strong faith and answered prayers. Edith was a member of Dotson Memorial Baptist Church. Edith is preceded in death by her Husbands, Charles Edward Gregory, and Fred Reese Lynn; Parents, Joe Payton Guider and Necy Ada Guider Endsley; Brothers, Charles Guider and Ralph Guider; Sister, Reba Finger; Son-in-law, Bob Lash, Jr; Brothers / Sisters -in-law, Jean Guider, Ben Finger, Joyce Guider, Jerry Masingo, Mary Ruth Guider, Lela Bernice Wilson and Cecil Wilson. Edith is survived by her daughters; Denia Henry Lash and Amy (Jim) Gregory Moore; Grandchildren; Jennifer (Brad) Anders, Adam (Chelsey) Henry, Aaron (Callyn) Henry, Joshua (Amy Beth) Yoakum and Joseph Yoakum; Great Grandchildren:  Addie, Max, Aliana, Charlie, Charlotte, Bennett, Gabe, Caroline and Cooper; Brother / Sisters; Jimmy (Lynn) Guider, Phyllis Masingo and Mary Jo (Dickie) Woods; Sister-in-law; Pat Guider; many special nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank New Providence Presbyterian Ministry Team, and the Shannondale and BMH Hospice teams for their compassionate care and visits.   In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in memory of Edith to the Friends of the Smokies PO Box 1660 Kodak, TN 37764.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2024, in Smith’s Trinity Chapel followed by a service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy Guider officiating.
