Edith Vinyard Goodson

Edith Vinyard Goodson, 96, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012. She was preceded in death by parents, Henry & Mae Vinyard; husband Luther B. Goodson; infant son Oscar; brother, Joe Allen Vinyard; sisters, Pearl Goodson, Alice McKee, Ruth McKee, Ernestine Ursery, and grandson Scott Best. Survived by sons, Norman R. (Judy) Goodson, Luther B. (Janice) Goodson, Jr., daughter Wilma G. (Floyd) Best, sister Johnnie Cannon, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, special lifelong friend Mary Brown, and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her family, church (Middlesettlement United Methodist), yard work and gardening, and her deceased pet, Cookie. A special thanks to Blount Memorial Hospital Hospice Program and caregivers Brenda Ball, and Martha Byrd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Middlesettlements United Methodist Church General Fund. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2012, Smith Trinity Chapel, with funeral service following. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, at Middlesettlements United Methodist Church Cemetery for the interment.
