Ed Doyle Crick, age 93, passed away on April 4, 2025. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Grover Crick; his wife of 70 years, Faye E. Crick; son, Bryan Dale; sister, Neva Lovell; brother, Lloyd; sister, Peggy Jones; brothers-in-law, Malcolm Lovell and Bert Jones; and sister-in-law, Helen Crick. He is survived by his son, Steven Wesley Crick, and daughter-in-law, Rhonda, of Fletcher, NC; sister, Thelma Riley (Tanner), of Bentonville, AR; and step-grandchildren, Austin Ryder and Amanda Ryder.
A native of Mississippi, Ed demonstrated responsibility early on by driving a school bus during his senior year of high school. He went on to graduate from Mississippi State University with a major in accounting and a commission in the U.S. Air Force. He served two years in the Air Force Audit Agency (AFAA). Following his military service, Ed dedicated nearly 34 years to the AFAA as a civilian, holding leadership positions in Oklahoma, Texas, California, and Maryland. After retirement, he then accepted a job with a Maryland company as Chief Financial Officer.
Upon his second retirement in 1992, Ed and Faye embarked on a new chapter in Maryville, Tennessee, settling in the Royal Oaks community where they embraced retirement, notably taking up golf and enjoying their time together. They were both active in the community, with Ed serving on the Royal Oaks Property Owners Association Board of Directors for over 15 years. He was also the association’s accountant for many years. Since 2014, he lived in the Shannondale Retirement Center in Maryville. Ed was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on April 22, 2025, at Smith Funeral Home from 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. The service will be conducted by Reverend Laura Baker from Shannondale. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.
