Earnest Wilford Gibson

Earnest W. Gibson (Ernie) age 83 of Maryville, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at Asbury Place. He was a member of Maryville Baptist Tabernacle where he served as song leader for many years and loved gospel music. Ernie has now joined the Heavenly Choir. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from ALCOA after 37 years or service. Earnest also was a member of the Masonic lodge. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Gibson; daughter, Shirley Sweet; infant son, David Gibson; son, Rick Gibson; parents, Ollie and Liddie Gibson; brothers, Gene and Crowder Gibson; sisters, Stella Tilley and Juanita Plemmons. He is survived by; wife, Toy Gibson; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Allen Bryant, Onita and John McCaulley all of Maryville; daughter-in-law, Barbara Gibson; son-in-law, Otie Sweet; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, Freddie and Mildred Gibson of Alcoa; sister, Ann Blair of Harriman, TN.; step-children, Johnny and Charlie Teffeteller, Diane Ball and Susie Hudson; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. , Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Rick Smelcher officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery for the interment with Rev. George Macht officiating.
