Earl McKinley Williamson

September 4, 1927 — October 10, 2011

WILLIAMSON, EARL MCKINLEY, 84, of Maryville, went to be with his Savior on October 10, 2011, after a long and hard-fought battle with Alzheimer’s. He passed from his life’s journey while held in the arms of his loving wife, Margaret, whom he loved, adored, and enjoyed life with for 66 years. Earl was a kind man, slow to anger, always willing to help his fellowman, and remained a gentleman of honor and dignity until his passing. He expressed love and kindness to his family in his own gentle way. He will be greatly missed. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church, where he attended as long as his health permitted. He retired from Vulcan Materials Company after 40 years of service. Earl leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, sweetheart, best friend and life partner, Margaret Vivian Yearout Williamson: daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and Rev. Wayne Simmons of Maryville, Peggy and Terry Julian and Sharon and Roy Heck of Seymour; sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and Kathy Williamson of Alcoa, Stacy and Tracy Williamson of Maryville: grandchildren, Tywanna McDaniel and husband, Greg of Maryville, Rodney Simmons of Chattanooga, Retired D.O.D. Air Traffic Controller Toby Boatman of Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter, SC, Mara and Sara Williamson of Maryville; great-grandson, Hunter McDaniel of Milligan College, Johnson City; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Glenn Caylor of Wears Valley, Ruth and Ray Gibson of Maryville; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by special grandson, Terry Boatman; parents, Rev. Clifford and Ola Williamson; sisters, Blanche Mounger, Eva Romines, Myrtle Ammons; brothers, Bobby Williamson, W.R. Williamson; infant granddaughter; special uncle, Clarence Tinker; cherished pet, Miss Affie. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Teresa Catron and the staff of Asbury Place where he was cared for the past four months, and to Dr. John Cowan and the staff of Blount Memorial Hospice for their care and concern. The family is grateful for his caregiver of five years, Freda Smith of Seymour. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Smith Trinity Chapel, with service following at 7 p.m.. Rev. Reece Boling officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2011 at the funeral home for procession to Prospect Cemetery in Walland for the Interment at 10:30 a.m..
