Earl Wayne Pryor

March 13, 1919 — April 3, 2010

Pryor, Earl Wayne age 91, passed away April 3, 2010 at MorningView Village Transitional Care Center in Maryville, Tennessee. He was born on March 13, 1919 in the Blount County community of Nails Creek to James and Naomi Pryor. Mr. Pryor served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy during WWII and worked in the chemical labs at Alcoa from 1941 until his retirement in 1982. He was also a deacon and a lifelong member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Eunice McCammon, Pauline Coulter, and Samuel Pryor. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Estelle Owenby Pryor, his son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Lynne Pryor, Ann Arbor, Michigan and the families of his three grandchildren: Robert Pryor, Santa Monica, California; Scott Pryor and his wife Emily, San Francisco, California; and Matthew Pryor, Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by his brothers, Jack Pryor and Darryl Pryor, and his in-laws, Dan and Blanche Owenby, Eugene and Elma Jean Owenby, and Cloella Sisk. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. Saturday, April 10 at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Maryville. A brief memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Bob Lynch, followed by interment at Grandview Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 5302 Nails Creek Road, Maryville, Tennessee 37804. The family also wishes to express their gratitude to all friends and neighbors who have offered their assistance during the past month.
