E. Velma McMahan, 90, died September 12, 2013, in Gastonia, N.C., after a short illness. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, but spent most of her adult life in West Virginia. She was a longtime member of a number of Baptist churches including First Baptist in Beckley, WV, Lincoya Hills Baptist in Donelson, TN, and Parkwood Baptist, Gastonia, NC, and had served as President of the West Virginia Baptist Women's Association. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur C. McMahan, her parents Lena and George Allison, her sisters Juanita Hearn and Marguerite Revlett. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Barbara of Chattanooga, TN; Brian of Beckley, WV; Paul and Becky of Belmont, NC; and Mark of Beckley, WV; and grandchildren Janette, David, Cory, Shannon, Jacob, and Rebecca; a number of nieces, nephews, and eight great grandchildren. She was a skilled cook and homemaker and enjoyed hobbies of gardening, crafts, and Internet activities including developing her own web page and maintaining contact with many Internet friends. Graveside services will be held on September 16 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Townsend, Tennessee. Memorial contributions can be made to World Hunger Fund, International Mission Board, P.O.
