Dr. Fred Myers Walker, Jr.

Maryville

Dr. Fred Myers Walker Jr passed on 9/11/2024 at the age of 76 years old. He was married to his wife Teresia Walker for 54 years. Born in Maryville, Tennessee, Fred proudly served in the United States Navy before attending the University of Tennessee for his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He later completed his doctorate at Walden University. After Fred served his country he worked at Motorola, Alcoa Aluminum Company, and finally as an Instructor and Assistant Program Director at Walden University. He was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and always willing to help anyone in need. His famous quote was “I can handle that.” No project was too big, and his heart was always full for others. 

Fred was preceded in death by his wife Teresia. He is survived by his daughter Dr. Christina Hiers and her husband Nic Hiers, and their daughters Ember and Summer. He is also survived by his son Fred Walker III and his wife Salena.

Fred enjoyed all things outdoors. He loved kayaking, camping, and Jeeping with his kids. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters in Florida. A celebration of life will be held in honor of Fred at Smithview Pavilion on October 3rd from 11-1pm (601 Smithview Dr., Maryville, TN 37803). In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to The Arbor Day Foundation, his favorite charity.
