Douglas Biddle Boardman passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on March 18, 2020. Douglas was a WWII Veteran, 84th Field Hospital, 3rd Army in Europe. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in Arts and Science in 1948. He married Martha Louise Neal in 1949, having met her at Vanderbilt in 1946. Douglas was employed by Bell South Telephone for 31 years as a district manager. He was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church for 60 years having served as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, and elder. Douglas was a Post President of Maryville Civitan Club and was active in Masonry where he had been Master of New Providence Lodge in 1985. Douglas and Martha owned and operated a 102 acre beef cattle and crops farm. Douglas was preceded in death by Martha. He is survived by three sons, Allen (Linda), Richard (Kathy), and Larry (Jennie), as well as seven grandchildren, Lauren, Chris, Matthew (deceased), Thomas, Christopher, Daniel, Jonathan, and one great-grandchild, Ellie Kate. A private graveside service will be on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Providence Church Welcome Table.
