Dorothy Ruth Kagley Hornbuckle, age 95, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 surrounded by family. She was born and raised in Maryville in a house her father built at the corner of Oak Street and Sevierville Road. She graduated from Everett High School, class of 1939 where she played basketball all 4 years. She loved to ride her bike to Walland and back during her younger years with her sister and friends. She began working at ALCOA in late 1942, where she was a member of the 25 year club and proudly worked there for over 40 years. Dorothy’s hobbies were reading cookbooks and always finding something different to try and also reading how to books. She could repair or make anything. She also loved to go camping, all kinds of plants and unusual flowers and in her later years she loved sitting in the front porch swing with her family and her cat. She was a loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her family. Dorothy was preceded in death by: Parents, Riley & Grace Kagley; Sister, Mary Elizabeth Banderman; Husband of over 50 years, Ralph Hornbuckle. She is survived by: Daughters, Toni Ruch and husband Dennis and Alicia Hornbuckle-Glass & husband Randy. She was blessed to have 6 grandchildren, Joe Ruch & wife Melissa, David Ruch & wife Judith, Jon Ruch & wife Lynn, Dan Ruch & wife Jennifer, Christy Suits & husband Kevin, and Brandt Glass. Dorothy was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Minister Danny Morris officiating.
