Dorothy Garland

Dorothy F. Garland age 71 of Friendsville went home to be with her Lord & Savior Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the family home. She was a member of Dotson Memorial Baptist church most of her life where she loved taking care of the church nursery. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be loved and missed by all who knew her. Dorothy was a very active member of the Lyons Club and their Vision program. Preceded in death by: Parents, Lawrence & Etta Maddox; Brother, L.J. Maddox. Survivors include: Husband of 49 years, Leon Garland; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Dwain & Christy Garland of Maryville and Anthony & Julie Garland of Friendsville; Grandchildren, Tiffany & Lauren Garland, Olivia Hardie & Anna Beth Garland; Brother & Sister-in-law, Leroy & Una Maddox of Philadelphia, TN; Sister & Brother-in-law, Jean & Jimmy Steele of Smyrna, TN; Sister-in-law, Helen Maddox of Farragut; Special friend, Geraldine Dunlap of Maryville. Funeral service will be at 7:30 PM, Friday, December 18, 2009 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Dale Ellenburg officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Dotson Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment.
