Donnie Bledsoe, 82, of Alcoa, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2018. He became the first superintendent of water for the City of Alcoa in 1960, a position he held until 1967 when he was named Director of Public Works. He also served the City of Alcoa as a policeman from 1956-1959, and Fire Chief from 1966-67. He was of Baptist faith. The oldest of ten children, he was preceded in death by: Parents, Dossie & Anna Mae Bledsoe; Brothers, Tim & Mahlon Bledsoe. He is survived by: Loving Wife of 62 years, Helen Graves Bledsoe; Son, Steve (Kim) Bledsoe; Daughter, Ginger (Joe) Aultom; Grandchildren, Chad (Sarah) Bailey, Katie (Ryan) Ferrell, Justin (Melissa) Aultom, Carrie (Josh) Carico and Matthew (Augusta) Aultom; ten great-grandchildren; Sisters, Connie Giles, Myrna Lewis (Kenneth), and Karen Gourley; Brothers, Jerry (Shelia), Clayton (Meskil), Gary & Loren (Janet) Bledsoe; numerous nieces and nephews; Brother-in-law, Larry (Sue) Graves; Sisters-in-law, Brenda Bledsoe, Sue Bledsoe, and Evelyn (Mike) Carroll. The family will have a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 PM, Friday, May 18, 2018 at Alcoa First United Methodist Church. Interment service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Forest Hill Baptist church with Rev. Greg Long officiating. Special thanks to Blount Memorial Hospice Service.
