Dr. Donald Ennis Jones

November 11, 1950 — March 25, 2025

Maryville, TN

Dr. Donald Ennis Jones was born outside of San Francisco on November 11,1950. His childhood took him around the world, living in places like Singapore and South Africa before his family eventually settled in Scarsdale, NY. After completing his undergraduate studies, he pursued medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. It was there, thanks to a well-aimed (or perhaps not-so-well-aimed) frisbee, that he met the love of his life, Dr. Susan Pharr Jones. The two quickly hit it off and married just six months later.

Don built a career as an anesthesiologist, and over the next decade, he and Susan welcomed three sons. The family later moved to Maryville, TN, where Don transitioned into interventional pain management, becoming a board-certified specialist. For over twenty years, he dedicated himself to helping patients find relief from chronic pain, improving countless lives with his skill and compassion.

A man of boundless energy and generosity, Don always put others before himself. He was deeply devoted to his family, his employees, and his patients, working tirelessly until the final months of his life. Outside of medicine, he was an avid golfer, accomplished outdoorsman, voracious reader, and passionate car enthusiast.

Don passed away peacefully on a Tuesday afternoon, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his sons, Philip, Mark, and Charlie; and his daughters-in- law, Yumika and Aruni. A private family service will be held to honor Don. Condolences may be shared through Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com
