Donald (Don) Edward Hobbs age 73 of Friendsville passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was an active member of Zion’s Chapel Baptist Church, former Blount Co. Sherriff from 1982 �" 1986, former City of Maryville Police Officer, Blount Co. Deputy and Cocoa, FL Police Officer. Don was an avid fisherman, golfer, and sportsman. Preceded in death by: Parents, Arthur & Alma Hobbs; Sister, Kathryn Mitchell. Survivors include: Wife, Louise Hobbs; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Danny &Roxanne Hobbs of GA, Ronnie & Debbie Hobbs of Maryville, Randy & Robin Hobbs of FL; Stepson, David Gossett of Maryville; Grandchildren, LeAnne & Ronnie Hobbs; Brothers, Oscar Hobbs of Maryville, Dale Hobbs of Alcoa, John Hobbs of Seattle, David Hobbs of Johnson City; Sisters, Fran Aspon of Seattle and Betty Braden of Nashville; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Zion’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Clarence Byrd and Rev. Jim Malone officiating. Interment will follow at Zion’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 PM, Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Smith Trinity Chapel.
