Donald Hugh Blair, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on April 7, 1938, in Sweetwater, Tennessee, Donald was the cherished son of the late Herbert and Bessie Blair. He grew up with strong values and a deep connection to his community, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Mary Snyder (Doc Snyder), Helen Long (Kenneth Long), and Gladys Creason (Paul Creason); and his first wife, Juanita Blair.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 42 years, Barbara (Bobbie) Martin Blair, who stood by his side with unwavering love and support. His family includes his son, Donald (Donnie) L. Blair (Rick Richardson); his daughter Angela Dykes (Derrick Dykes); his grandson Ian Blair; and his beloved granddaughter Blair Nicole Dykes, whom he adored with all his heart. Donald is also survived by his sister-in-law Shirlie Martin, as well as niece, Julie Powell and her husband Michael Powell.
Donald dedicated 35 years of service to The Kroger Company, retiring as a respected store manager. His leadership and commitment to excellence were admired by colleagues and customers alike.
Donald was a member of the Pigeon Forge Community Center Wednesday night mixed bowling league for many years and he cherished the friendships he and Bobbie made there.
Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the team at Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center and Sacred Ground Hospice House for the outstanding care provided to Don. Every member of your staff treated us with kindness and respect, making a difficult situation more manageable. We are truly grateful for the exceptional care and support we received, and we will always remember your kindness.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday, August 30, 2024 at Smith Trinity Chapel. A service to honor Donald’s life will be officiated by Rev. Kenneth Stansberry and held at 7:00 PM, Friday, August 30, 2024 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Donald will be laid to rest at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Maryville, Tennessee, where he will find eternal peace.
Donald’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
