David Robert Ledford

David Robert Ledford, age 81 of Maryville passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022.  David moved his family to West Millers Cove in 1973.  He graduated from Ferrum Junior College and then graduated with a BS degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO.  He worked for the Exxon Corporation, took an early retirement, and then owned Broadway and Washington Exxon for several years.  He was a member of West Millers Cove Missionary Baptist Church.  David enjoyed bluegill fishing, University of Tennessee football, trips to Cades Cove, picnics at Metcalf Bottoms and the Chimneys, trips for him and mom to Key West and Miami, teasing his grandkids, mowing his yard when it wasn’t really needed, turning off lights to save 2 dollars a month on his electric bill, challenging Humana about 47-cent discrepancies in his monthly statement, arguing with AT&T about his phone bill, and spending time with grandkids and great grandkids.  He is preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Ledford and his mother, Wilma Ledford.  He is survived by his wife, Geneva Cooper Ledford, his sons, David Ledford and Jeff Ledford, his daughters-in-law, Jennifer Ledford and Kyla Ledford. Brother Richard Ledford, Sister Jean Ledford.  He is survived by his grandchildren, Major Jacob Ledford (USMC), Lt. Commander Jeff Ledford (US Navy), Haley Ledford Medley, Joseph Ledford, Katherine Ledford, Airmen Carson Ledford (Air Force), PFC Christella Ledford (US Army), Specialist Parker Ledford (US Army), Jimbo Ledford, Caden Ledford.  Great grandchildren are Aubrey Ledford, Annabelle Ledford, Brynnley Ledford, Atticus Ledford, Cora Ledford, Arthur Ledford, David Crockett Ledford, Brooks Medley, Mila Medley.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 11:00am until 12:00pm in the Smith Trinity Chapel with a Celebration of David’s life to follow at 12:00pm with Rev.
