David Elmer Boring

February 6, 1958 — September 17, 2017

David Elmer Boring left this life Sunday, September 17, 2017. David was a diesel mechanic who began his working career in the 1970’s at Vulcan Materials. Throughout the years he also worked for Power Equipment, Waters Equipment, King Ford, Gary Yeoman’s Ford, Neil Sandler Ford. He later went on to be owner/operator of D&B Truck Repair. His first passion was drag racing. He loved it, lived it, and breathed it. His second passion was seeing the beauty of life through the windshield of his Harley-Davidson. He loved to travel and see God’s beautiful country. He leaves behind the love of his life Carla Johnson-Boring (Clinton, TN). They were blessed to have loved each other for 17 wonderful years. Also his children Becky and David Cantrell (Maryville, TN), John Boring and his love Amanda Shaffer (Maryville, TN), and Cody and Lacey Hackworth (Clinton, TN); his four grandchildren Jordan Boring, Liberty Cantrell, Braxton Hackworth and Launa Hackworth; his parents J.D. and Elnor Boring (Maryville, TN), his brothers and sisters-in-law Duane Boring, Clark and Gidget Boring, and Stanley and Erin Boring, all of Maryville. David was a big man with an even bigger heart. His smile and laugh were infectious. Everyone who knew him loved him and they knew he would be there with just a phone call. He loved his friends and family more than life itself. A special thank you to Bobby Best for everything you have done and for being such an amazing friend. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday, September 30, 2017. A memorial ride will take place at 2:00 PM followed by a celebration of life at Smithview Pavilion.
