Dale Claude Abernathy

Dale Abernathy, 68, originally from Roswell, New Mexico, went home to glory on Friday, April 21, 2023. He passed away peacefully at home with family after a long two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Katie Abernathy of Maryville, TN. Dale was an amazing man, son, husband, dad, granddad, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne of 41 years; daughter, Sarah (Nick) Miller; son, Eric (Angelina) Abernathy; beloved grandson, Ezra; brother, Dorian Abernathy; sister, Sharon (Joe) Frerichs; many nieces and nephews. He lived a life proclaiming his love for Jesus and was an active member of Springview Baptist Church. Dale worked forty-two years at the University of Tennessee Physical Plant as a carpenter. A very special thanks to his life-long best friend, Wayne Lively. Thanks to Blount Memorial Hospice for their guidance during this time. Family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Smith West Chapel. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ben Ward officiating.
