Curtis Lively, 91, of Maryville went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 29, 2013. Curtis was born in the Frost Bottom community of Oliver Springs, TN on February 10, 1922. He served in the United States Army during World War II in Europe with the 83rd infantry and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for ALCOA for 42 years mostly in the South Plant until retiring in 1983. Curtis was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed gardening and bee keeping as hobbies. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia James Lively; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lori Lively of Pikeville, TN and Wayne and Frankie Lively of Maryville; grandchildren, Jessi Lively Hunt and husband, Jamie of Maryville, Leonard (Lenny) Lively and Lindsey Lively of Pikeville; two great grandchildren, Shelby Hunt and Hailey Hunt of Maryville; sister, Edra Lively of Frost Bottom, TN; brothers, Herbert Lively of Spartanburg, SC, Clayton Lively and Roy Lively of Oliver Springs, TN. Special thanks to Chris Wentworth and Brenda Branton who helped take care of him during his last year with us. Also thanks to Sara and Nick Miller who were with him and the family during his final hours. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 in the Smith West Chapel with Rev. Bob Dalton officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
