Clifford Joseph Hoole, 86, entered peacefully into eternity on August 31, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cliff was born to Clifford M. and Yvonne Hoole of Somerset, Mass. on December 21, 1937. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael R. Hoole. Until they are together again, he leaves his wife of 41 years, Harleen M. Lyons Hoole, his sons Thomas S. Hoole (Brenda), David M. Hoole (Ann), and daughter Melissa J. Dahm (Doug), as well as 6 beloved grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and his much-loved rescue cats. Cliff proudly served 22 years and retired as a MSGT from the US Air Force, where he specialized in secure communications. He was equally proud of his subsequent 25-year career in communications with the Washington DC Metropolitan Transit Authority. His personal interests included a love for all outdoor activities and sports, especially yachting, RV-ing and football. He was a talented do-it-yourselfer and could make or re-build nearly anything. He was known for his unfailing loyalty to his friends and family and was always willing to give of his time and talents. Friends often joked that there was a right way, a wrong way, and the “Cliff Hoole way!” He will be greatly missed. Cliff will be interred following an Honor Guard presentation and brief memorial service on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 12:30pm at the East TN State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Emerald Youth Foundation at www.emeraldyouth.org or the Young-Williams Animal Center at www.young-williams.org.
