Clarence D. Smith

July 21, 1935 — February 4, 2010

Clarence D. “Smitty�? Smith age 74 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He attended East Maryville Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Clarence retired from ALCOA and was a member of their 25-Year Club. He was a member of the Rockford Masonic Lodge #469, Knox Scottish Rite Bodies & Shriners at Kerbela Temple of Knoxville. Smitty was a longtime coach at Eagleton Ballfield with little league and pee wee football and baseball. After retirement he volunteered with the Heritage High Band Boosters doing everything from cook to chaperone. For many years he had a great love for dancing with his wife and true love, Pat, square-dancing, western two step, and ballroom dancing throughout the Southeast. Preceded in death by: Parents, Clarence & Margaret Smith; Sisters, Rita Radford and Margie Smith. Survivors include: Wife of 53 years, Patricia Smith; Son & Daughter-in-law, Clarence D. “Bo�? II & Trish Smith of Winchester; Daughter & Son-in-law, Patti & Gary Hamilton of Maryville; Grandchildren, Logan & Staci Rickard of Maryville, Devin Rickard of Knoxville, Chasity & Michael Lewis of Tullahoma; Amy and Tim Gann of North Charleston, SC; Great Grandchildren, Carson Lewis & Levi Rickard (to be born soon), Zackary, Skylar, and Gabriel Gann of North Charleston, SC; Brothers, Thurman and Betty Smith of Letart, WV, Lee and Koleta Smith of Taklequah, OK; Brother-in-law, Phillip Radford; Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-law, Don & JoAnn Harmon of Woodsfield, OH and Tom & JoAnn Harmon of Knoxville; Sister, Ada McHaffie of Middleport, OH; many nieces and nephews. Funeral and Masonic Service will be at 4:00 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. The interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery with Military Honors.
