Christian Leigh Garland

Christi Leigh Garland was called to Heaven on Friday, September 4th, 2015 in her home in Alcoa, TN. She had fought numerous health problems over the years and passed quietly in her sleep. Christi's life might seem short to some, but despite her own health problems, she touched countless others in some way throughout her memorable life. She graduated from Alcoa High School in 1992 and continued her education at Pellissippi State in Child Development; she was an active member of the Blount County Sheriff office's Senior Outreach program from 2002-2005; she rescued several mistreated animals; and, had worked at her parent's water company, Advanced Water Systems, since she was fifteen. Her squinty, "Popeye" smile, and her chatty disposition brought great joy to all her family and friends. Christi adored animals, loved reading, was fun, caring, and always approachable. She will be forever missed and loved. Christi was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Bonnie Bartlett and her maternal grandfather, Paul Akers. Christi is survived by her husband, Kevin Garland; son, Nicholas Garland; parents, Garry and Carol Crain of Louisville, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Bart and Amy Crain (nephews Jordan, Hunter, and Levi) of Louisville, TN; brother, Brett Crain (nephew Zachary, niece Lexie) of Louisville, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Carrie and Travis Williams (nephew Anthony) of Cosby, TN; grandmother, Margaret Akers of Brandon, MS; and grandfather Jesse (Ray) Crain of Lawrenceville, GA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Susan Garland of Plymouth, IN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stephen and Heather Garland (nephew Levi and niece Sedona) of Hebron, IN; brother-in-law Dan Garland (nephew Logan and nieces Krya and Chloe) of Surprise, AZ. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM with burial service following at Grandview Cemetery (Pastor Billy Castilaw officiating).
