Charles Brantly Taylor, age 98 of Maryville, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2024. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was active duty from 1944 to 1946. Charles was a postman after the war, but his true passion was farming with the love of his life, Betty Ann Fugate, whom he married in 1949. Charles always greeted each day with a smile and never met a stranger. His smile and kindness will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Fugate Taylor; son, Jonathan Taylor; parents, Lamar and Jonnie Taylor; brothers, James Edward, Lamar Jr., Darrell, Larry, and George Taylor; sister, Virginia Lewis. He is survived by his son, Steven (Nancy) Taylor; granddaughter, Lacey Taylor; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. Special thanks to Kim, Tammy, Robin, and Anne. They enriched his last few months with care and companionship beyond measure. Family and friends will assemble at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Grandview Cemetery for graveside services and interment with Tommy Russell officiating. In lieu of flowers please give to a charity of your choice in Charles’ name. Condolences may be shared through Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com
