Charles (Charlie) Stewart left his pain and fatigue behind on July 6, 2015 in Maryville, TN. Born to Quentin R. and Mary Hall Stewart on January 11, 1954, he is the brother of Ted Stewart of Miracle, KY, Watson Stewart of Dahlonega, GA, and Cindy and Mike Kelley of Tullahoma, TN. He has five nieces and nephews; Mark, Tom, Stephanie, Suzanne, and Phillip all of whom were terribly fond of "Uncle Chuckie" and his antics. Charlie is also a life-long friend to Chuck and PJ White of Hendersonville, NC. Most people did not know that Charlie had a talent for drawing, that he could carry a tune, or that he won national awards for his work during his 33 year career as an environmentalist. That was his way. Many of his fondest memories were from his travels experienced with his friends. Anyone who spent more than an hour with Charlie knows he loved to tell tales of these adventures. Through many challenges in the past few years, Charlie gave hope, determination, and strength to those of us who were supporting him through his battle with cancer. He did the same for many others fighting their own battles. He continued to make us all smile…that was his way. As per his wishes, a celebration of the life and times of Charlie will be held at a later date. Charlie will make one last trip back to West Virginia and the hills he loved and always called home. As in life, he will find rest in the peacefulness of the mountains. That was his way. Memorials to honor Charlie may be made to the James Cancer Center at Ohio State University at https://www.giveto.osu.edu/makeagift/?fund=310921. Acknowledgements to be received by Cindy Kelley, 224 Cook Road, Tullahoma, TN 37388.
