Charles R. Sparks, Jr.

Charles R. Sparks Jr. age 70 of Maryville passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 at his family home. He was a devoted husband and father who loved camping, fishing, and being with his family. He was a charter member of Blount Christian Church where he served as a deacon. Charles was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War who served in the United States Navy. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company in 1995 as an Electrical Supervisor and was a member of the 25 Year Club. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Charlotte Sparks; sister, Elizabeth-Sue Sparks; and brother-in-law, Allen Henson. Survivors include his wife of forty-nine and a half years, Marsha; sons and daughters in law, Brian and LoriAnn Sparks of Mosheim, TN and Charles T. (Tom) and Sharon Sparks of Maryville, TN; daughter, Tricia Sparks Carpenter of Maryville, TN; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wendell and Connie Henson of Chino, CA. The funeral service will be held at 7:00PM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Smith’s Trinity Chapel with the Rev. Barry Clanton officiating. The interment will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
