Charles H. Newman

Charles Newman age 85 of Maryville passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. Charles was retired from ALCOA with 42 years of service and was a member of their 25-Year Club. He was a faithful member of the Rockford Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. and a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Charles was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by: Parents, James & Mary Bell Newman; Son-in-law, Matt Cresse. Survivors include: Wife of 44 years, Mary Ellen Newman; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Steve & Mary Newman of Townsend and Joe & Ninfa Newman of Las Vegas, NV; Daughter, Barbara Cresse of Maryville; 6 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; Brother, Melvin Newman of Etowah; Special Brother-in-law, Mick Humphrey; Special Sister-in-law, Helen Taylor. Funeral service will be at 4:00 PM, Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Rich Mullens officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Mausoleum.
