Charles Alvin Lee

Charles A. Lee, age 78 of Walland, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016. A faithful Christian man, Charles attended Everett Hills Baptist Church for many years before joining Oakview Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. Charles is the 8th great-grandson of Richard Henry Lee, one of the founding families of the United States and the Lee’s of Virginia. He retired as a brick mason from ALCOA and was known for building many brick and mountain stone structures around the community, including the stone bridge at his own home. Charles was raised in the Wildwood area and served in the U.S. National Guard for 15 years. He was a proud American who loved the Smoky Mountains, photography, and travel. A loving son, father, and grandfather, Charles was preceded in death by Parents Charles & Edna Lee and Brothers Eugene Lee and Arnold Lee. He is survived by Wife Linda Lowe Lee; Daughters Donna Lee Sokoll of Charlotte, NC, Lisa Lee of Coral Gables, FL, and Janie Lee Nash of Lenoir City; Grandchildren Ashley Christine Broberg of Knoxville, Samantha Autumn Nash of Lenoir City, and Jonathan Cody Sokoll of Arlington, VA; Great-Grandchildren Shelby, Sterling, and Tesla Jane Broberg; Sisters Ivadene Lee Ricketts (Gene) of Chattanooga and Doris Lee Howie and Phyllis Ann Spencer (Allen) of Chiefland, FL; and nieces, nephews, and other family. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Smokies (www.friendsofthesmokies.org), Alzheimer’s Tennessee Inc. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Smith West Chapel with Rev. Scott Huffstetler officiating.
