Charles Oscar Hobbs

August 5, 1933 — January 24, 2017

Charles “Oscar” Hobbs age 83 of Maryville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church in Maryville. Oscar retired from West Chevrolet and served in the United States Navy. Preceded in death by: Wife, Mary Etta “Joines” Hobbs; Parents, Arthur & Alma “Bowerman” Hobbs; Sister, Kathryn “Hobbs” Mitchell; Brother, Don Hobbs “former sheriff of Blount County.” Survivors include: Daughter & Son-in-law, Terri (Hobbs) and Stan Houston; Grandchildren, Brad Teaster of Maryville, Bethany & Joe Lindsey of Louisville; Great-Grandchildren, Averie & Walter Lindsey of Louisville; Brothers, Dale Hobbs of Georgia, John Hobbs of Maryville, David Hobbs of Johnson City; Sisters, Fran Aspen of Seattle and Betty Braden of Maryville; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to West Chevrolet, Blount Discount Pharmacy, and UT Medical Center. Family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tony Collins and Rev. Steve Hodges officiating. Family and friends will assemble for entombment at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel.
