Charles Gourley, age 75 passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024. In Loving Memory of Charles. With deep sorrow, we say our goodbyes to Charles Ray Gourley—a kind man, a caring father, a loving grandfather, and a follower of the Lord. Even though he is gone, we know he is walking the streets of heaven today. Charles was a man who appreciated life's simple beauty. His happiest moments were spent on the peaceful greens of the golf course, where he reveled in the calm serenity of nature. Whether it was perfecting his swing or enjoying the company of friends, Charles found deep fulfillment in this cherished pastime. Charles was born to loving parents Beecher and Erma Gourley, who preceded him in death. A devoted father to Kevin Gourley (Crista Peterson), Kelly Alexander (Robby Alexander), and Alyson Young (Dusty Young), Charles nurtured them with boundless love and wisdom. His guidance and life lessons served as the foundation for his children's growth and resilience, leaving a steadfast impact that will continue to guide them for years to come. He was the patriarch of a close-knit family, extending his love to his grandchildren, who affectionately called him 'Poppy'. His unending joy and pride were found in his grandchildren—Emma, Keaton, Kollin, Lynen, and Fisher —and he thoroughly relished time spent with them. Regardless of the turn’s life took, the relationship between Charles and his ex-wife Karen remained rooted in mutual respect and shared affection for their family. He experienced great joy and warmth in his later life, from his fiancé, Kathy Holliday. Alongside his three children, grandchildren, ex-wife, and girlfriend, Charles is also survived by his loving sisters Judy Gladden (Bernard Gladden), Loretta McKenzie (Randy McKenzie), Ricky Gourley (Darlene Gourley), and many nieces, nephews, and friends that he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Gourley. Above all, Charles was a man of strong faith. His love for the Lord was unwavering, and his devotion knew no boundaries. He firmly believed in sharing Jesus' teachings with others, radiating an enduring spiritual light that profoundly influenced the lives of those around him. Today, as we mourn the physical loss of Charles, we also celebrate the remarkable life that he led. His laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love have left an indelible mark, creating cherished memories and life lessons. Let’s be reminded that Charles relished every moment of his life spreading love and embodying faith. Rest in peace, Charles; your life was an ode to love, faith, and resilience. Your spirit will forever remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers please send donations to: The Ronald McDonald House.
